Jim Heley is the founder and Managing Director of Advanced Aerospace Assembly Ltd (A3L). The company was established in 2012 to develop and exploit digital technologies in aerospace assembly. Prior to A3L he was Head of the Integrated Manufacturing Group, a part of the AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) focused on the application of technology to eliminate manufacturing problems, for 10 years. Jim has over 20 years industrial experience and a PhD in Engineering received from Sheffield University in 1996. A3L are the UK supplier and integrator of ProjectionWorks.
Mike Sorbie is the lead engineer for A3L with a Masters of Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield University and 3 years developing manufacturing technology into BAES, Airbus and Siemens. Mike Specialises in Photogrammetry and Augmented Reality, during his time at A3L he has successfully developed and delivered a £1.5m Innovate photogrammetry MRO project with a consortium of companies for A3L.
